Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has formally announced appointment of Mike Hesson as the head coach of Pakistan’s white-ball cricket team.
“I am satisfied to proclaim Mike Hesson as the new head coach of the Pakistan team,” said Naqvi. Hesson will accept his tasks from May 26, joining the national system specifically for white-ball formats.
Naqvi said Aaqib Javed has been selected as Director at the High Performance Centre.
Naqvi stated that the position had been available, and several requests were studied before finalizing the appointment.
Mike Hesson, known for his coaching achievement with New Zealand, is probable to bring valuable experience to Pakistan’s limited-overs cricket setup.
Hesson comes in to fill the post after assessment of many applications received against the vacancy, which fell vacant after Pakistan men’s team tour to New Zealand in April.
Hesson had previously served as head coach of various international teams counting New Zealand and Kenya. He is also presently serving as head coach of Islamabad United, who is the defensive champions of HBL Pakistan Super League.
