Defensive champions Islamabad United sustained their dominant run in the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) with an undoubted seven-wicket victory over Karachi Kings at the National Stadium, Karachi on Sunday.
Choosing to bowl first, United’s bowlers delivered a controlled performance to limit Karachi Kings to a modest 127/8 in 20 overs. In answer, United chased down the target with 17 balls to extra, locking their fourth successive win in the tournament.
In plain difference to the Kings’ struggles with the bat, Islamabad United started their chase with determined, led by the in-form Sahibzada Farhan, who burnt his way to 30 off just 18 balls, arresting five boundaries and a six.
His abrupt innings pushed United to 34 in quick time before a spectacular catch by David Warner over his stay, handing Karachi their first advance. Hasan Ali hit again in the same over, clean bowling Colin Munro to briefly pull United back.
Despite the early shocks, United continued in control. Azam Khan attached the middle overs with a stable 31 off 30 deliveries, while skipper Shadab Khan played a captain’s knock, supervisory the chase with an easy 47 off 40, fastened with five fours and two sixes.
