Former Pakistan pacer Tanvir Ahmed has asked the national selectors for not option in-form batter Sahibzada Farhan, despite his brilliant performances in national cricket and the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Talking on his YouTube channel, Tanvir commended Farhan for his loyalty with the bat, highlighting his new attainments.
“He is playing outstanding cricket amazing, in fact. He has scored three centuries in local cricket, counting a triple hundred, and now his first PSL hundred. His constancy is amazing, and he is in excellent touch,” said Tanvir.
He criticised the selectors for making justifications to leave out certain players, saying personal dislike often grows in the way of rational decisions.
“If you don’t like a player, fine, but don’t build excuses demanding he has attitude problems, arrives late to training, or doesn’t train correctly,” he said.
“This is a recurrent issue in our cricket culture. When selectors can’t drop a player based on performance, they option to questioning his attitude.”
Tanvir advised selectors to move past personal opinions and give worthy players a fair unplanned.
“Even if you don’t like him, accept the bitter pill. Select him for the national team and let him show himself,” he said.
“Farhan is shining nationally — his starts are strong and he’s performance under pressure.”
Farhan has so far scored 184 runs in three PSL 10 matches, including a century, and has been one of the top players of the tournament.
Tanvir also criticised Shadab Khan, claiming he performs well only in franchise cricket but fails to bring in international matches.
“Shadab fools everyone by batting at No. 4 in the PSL, beating a few sixes, and taking a couple of wickets,” he said.
“He rights to be the world’s leading spin-bowling all-rounder, but in international cricket, he recurrently fails and gets visible.
“He performs in permit leagues but fights when representing Pakistan. His PSL feats don’t translate to national success.”
