Former Indian Cricketer Calls for Pakistan’s Ouster from Asia Cup, Urges ACC Action

Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has flashed argument with his recent reports about Pakistan’s participation in the coming Asia Cup 2025 and the future of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC. His remarks come among ongoing political tensions between India and Pakistan.

The Asia Cup is scheduled to be equally hosted by India and Sri Lanka earlier this year. Though, Gavaskar asked whether Pakistan should be allowed to take part, naming the Indian government’s strong effect on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

“BCCI’s stance has always shadowed the Indian government’s way. If the situation hasn’t altered, I don’t see Pakistan taking part in the Asia Cup,” said Gavaskar during a new interview on a local sports stage.

The previous Indian captain also spoke about the option of bigger changes in Asian cricket. He optional that the ACC could even be scattered, making way for new tournament set-ups like three- or four-nation series connecting teams such as Hong Kong or the UAE.

“It’s possible that the Asian Cricket Council could be melted. Instead, we might see a tri-series or a four-nation event. What occurs next will depend on how things explain in the coming months,” Gavaskar added.

He additional implicit that India might pull out of the ACC completely and establish its own multi-nation tournament, perhaps in partnership with countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan.

“If India chooses to host a tournament on its own, it could take place in India, or even in Bangladesh or Sri Lanka, with India still being the key host,” he said.

Gavaskar’s comments have enthused dispute in the cricketing world, especially as the Asia Cup attractions closer. His statements replicate growing indecision over the tournament’s structure and participation, mainly involving arch-rivals India and Pakistan.
