BCB chief physician shares major update on Tamim Iqbal’s health after heart attack

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician has shared an important update on the health of Tamim Iqbal after he agonized a heart attack.

Tamim, the previous captain of the Bangladesh cricket team, was playing for Mohammedan Sporting Club in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League when he suddenly adept a heart attack on the field. He was quickly hurried to the hospital for medical care.

According to Debashis Chowdhury, the BCB’s medical officer, Tamim Iqbal recovered consciousness after experiencing a successful stent procedure. 

“His vital signs are improving, and we are hopeful that his overall health will continue to improve over the next 24 hours,” Chowdhury said.

The BCB medical officer further stated that a stent was placed in one of Tamim’s arteries, while the other arteries were found to be healthy. 

“The hospital has up-to-date us that a stent has been placed in one of his arteries, while the other arteries remain healthy,” he shared.

Former, an official from KPJ Specialized Hospital in Savar provided more details about Tamim’s disorder. Dr. Rajib Hasan, the hospital’s media director, exposed that Tamim had been brought to the hospital twice in a single day.

“He fell ill between 9:00 and 9:30 AM at BKSP and was taken here for medical attention,” Dr. Hasan clarified. 

After receiving initial treatment, Tamim felt better and left the hospital, but his condition degraded later, encouragement a second visit to the hospital for further care. 

Following his second entrance, the medical team performed an angioplasty and inserted a stent to treat his heart condition.

“Tamim’s condition has improved. He experienced a heart attack, which required an angiogram, angioplasty, and stenting,” Dr. Hasan said. 

“The procedure was successful, and the obstruction in his artery has been completely resolved,” he added.
